Kanye West overtakes Michael Jackson with fortieth Top 40 hit on the Hot 100 chart

Yeezy scored the milestone with his feature on ScHoolboy Q’s ‘That Part’

Kanye West has overtaken Michael Jackson in US chart history after landing his fortieth Top 40 song.

The rapper had been on level terms with both the late pop singer and The Four Seasons lead singer Frankie Valli when it came to the number of times that he’d had a song (as lead artist or as a feature) chart in Billboard’s weekly Hot 100 countdown of the best-selling singles in the US.

But, as Complex reports, West’s feature on ScHoolboy Q’s ‘That Part’ has this week jumped to number 40 on Saturday’s (August 13) chart, meaning that it will be the fortieth time that West has had a song enter the Top 40.

West is now one ahead of Jackson and Valli, who both had 39 songs enter the Top 40.

Billboard have also published a ranking of the male artists who have enjoyed the most top 40 singles, with Elvis Presley out in front with 80 songs.

80 – Elvis Presley
69 – Lil Wayne
57 – Elton John
53 – Drake
46 – Stevie Wonder
45 – Jay Z
44 – James Brown
42 – Chris Brown
41 – Marvin Gaye

40 – Kanye West
