Nigerian Int’l Model Victor Ndigwe, throws major jab at Haters Who Mock "This Skinny Boy"

Despite his achievements and success in his modeling career, Nigerian International model Victor Ndigwe, has not grown past giving undue attention to his self acclaimed haters, constantly tweeting and deleting his posts on facebook, as he throws shades at indigenous models.

Victor is no doubt one of Nigeria’s fastest rising models making it big in the international market. At only 19 years of age, he has already carved a niche for himself, making him the first Nigerian male model to walk both Milan and Paris runways shortly after winning the Aquafina Elite Model Look competition in Nigeria in 2014, alongside a female model, Mayowa Nicholas.

Victor has stomped down the runway for some of the world’s most recognized luxury fashion brands like, Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce&Gabbana, Fendi, Versace, Missoni, Hermès, Balmain and many others. He also fronts the Missoni campaign. However, in what appears to be an act of pride, Victor has chosen to look down on his Nigerian counterparts.

On April 5, the top model took to his Facebook page in his usual style to exalt himself for his accomplishment, his physique and stylishly throw body shaming remarks to indigenous Nigerian models.

“Just Because I’m Not A Stereotype. But I’m Proud of What I’ve Accomplished! They make it hard for the skinny boys and easier for the guys with muscles. Ironic! But this skinny boy went abroad, He Was the One Flexing Muscles. Iconic! Y’all got nothing on this skinny boy, even with your muscles… And No! I’m Not Anorexic”, he wrote.

Also, earlier this month, he took to Facebook to salute his friends for the new month and showed his appreciation to those who recognise raw talent. He also showered praises on Ghana’s ‘Beast of No Nation’ actor, Abraham Attah, who was discovered on the streets of Accra Ghana, though subtly also throwing shade at his so called haters. However, the question on the minds of many Nigerians and Victor’s supporters is, WHO IS HATING ON Victor?

Again, Olajumoke, the popular bread seller who rose from grass to grace, and is currently garnering endorsements and modeling deals for almost every brand in the country was an earlier victim of Victor’s venom.

At a time when all eyes were on Olajumoke, the self styled super model stated that Olajumoke will never make it as a model in the international market, as she does not have what it takes to be a model as Nigerians have portrayed her to be. Many wondered if Victor had become a ‘soothsayer’ to determine who makes it in the international modeling scene, or not. He however, came under heavy attack on facebook as many were not in support of his hate and jealousy for Olajumoke.

To say Victor Ndigwe has been known for being big headed ever since he traveled abroad to model is an understatement. He may be the first West African model to sign two major gigs with super fashion brands, but the reality is, he is not the first successful Nigerian international model to have achieved so much in a very short time.

The list of successful Nigerian models in the international scene is endless. We have the likes of Toyin Oyeneye, Ola Morafa, Moyinoluwa Arowoshola, Kevwe Apkede, Jimi Owobo Ogunlaja, Mayowa Nicholas, among others, but the same arrogance cannot be said of these models despite their very huge achievements abroad.

Mayowa Nicholas is also Nigeria’s fast rising super model who successfully broke in the international market after she won Nigeria’s round of the Elite Model Look in 2014 with Victor. However, having done major campaigns and big shows for brands like Balmain, Prada, Dior, worked with super models Gigi Hadid and Joan smalls, and other major successes recorded so far, Mayowa is never braggadocio about her accomplishments.

The story of Toyin Oyeneye, another Nigerian international model is not any different. His career in modeling took off once he was discovered and sign by ICE models, South Africa while still in Nigeria. Since then, he relocated to South Africa and has graced two GQ covers already, with several features and an interview with ELLE Magazine and has continued to reach for greater heights.

Here is hoping Victor takes a cue from his fellow international model counterparts, stays focused on his job, gets an education and possibly be an ambassador for his young Nigerian followers.
