The wedding day is one full of happiness for everyone involved, but a lot of worrying over perfection induces some stress into it. Fashion trends in some way has indirectly added its own share of stress to this beautiful day.
Nollywood actress, Ivie Okujaye has decided to defy the norm of fashion expectations for a perfect bride. Ivie made a daring statement at her wedding as she opted for heeled sneakers instead of the ever present heeled sandals for most brides.
You’re probably thinking, ‘sneakers and a flowing wedding dress??!! Who does that?’ Lol. Ivie does oo!! And every other bride that will follow in her steps soon. You’re probably thinking of trying yourself abi?
On her instagram page the 2009 AMBO winner had initially posted a picture of her sneakers on wedding gown combo from a movie scene in ‘Burning Bridges’ several months ago saying,
“Every bride should think of wearing sneakers on that special day. It’s comfy, u can stand for hours taking pictures with every1, u can run out d venue if u change ur mind bout getting married :)…. and it looks really good (sayz me!). #Movies #Film #Nollywood #Passion”.
Watching the movie you’ll just see a beautiful bride not knowing the beautiful bride is rocking sneakers with her dress: D
Re-enacting this, Ivie not only rocked her heeled sneakers with her flowing wedding dress but she also wore it on her traditional wedding dress. Wore a short hair-do (not usually a bridal kinda style), changed to a short dress for reception. She just simply killed it!! Love you darling :* :*
In my view, Ivie is making a very big statement with this act. “Perfection isn’t necessarily found only in publicly accepted trends. Perfection is found in self.”_ Nike Thaddeus.
Ivie and her heartthrob Ezzie were the definition of perfection on the big day these Friday 17th April 2015 and Saturday 18th April 2015. We all here at 9jadiaspora wish you the very best marriage ever!!
Some Nigerian brides are cheering Ivie on her daring style.
Nigerian blogger Kemisola Okpaka says:
“Ivie, you are so right! I became miserable and had to remove my heels on my wedding day, when I couldn’t bear the strain on my legs any longer, in fact, my smile became plastered, cos of the pain. Lmao.”
