Wizkid definitely had a great 2017, and his 2018 has kicked off with a bang. Our starboy teamed up with Boiler Room TV for an in-depth look at a high point in his career in this new documentary, Wizkid: From Lagos To London.
Wizkid sold out a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in October, before coming home to headline a massive show in Lagos which was definitely worth documenting, as it was one of the high points of his career. Wizkid fans who couldn’t be there will definitely appreciate the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look.
The documentary shows clips from his Royal Albert Hall performance, Felabration performance as well as an interview with Boiler Room. In From Lagos To London, Wizkid talks about how Fela influences his music, and why he loves to perform at the New Afrika Shrine. He also speaks about how growing up in Lagos shaped him as a person, saying that “if you can make it in Lagos, you can make it anywhere in the world”.
Although it was more enjoyable to watch the performances than to hear him speak (as what he was saying seemed kind of empty and contrived), it was nice to see Wizkid in this space and to gain more insight to him as a person.
